Nordic and Baltic cooporation for Peer Support Workers
The Peer-Partnership is part of the Nordplus supported project: Nordic and Baltic cooperation for Peer Support Workers (PSW) aiming to develop and share new educational materials for peer support.
Education for Peer Support and PSW is part of the new health services all over Europe. As of today, the usage of PSW in the health services differs between both nations and regions inside the nation. The aim of this project is to strengthen the collaboration between the Nordic and Baltic partners and develop new learning materials, common guidelines for PSW and a conference in Lithuania regarding PSW.
With the development of new learning materials and overall sharing of guidelines and knowledge regarding peer support, we can present teachers and learners in the field of health with useful products for use in both existing training programs and in developing new training.
All materials will be presented in video or text and made available for everyone who find them useful through a shared website. Furthermore, alle materials will be presented at a joined conference in Lithuania which will also create an opportunity for sharing knowledge and practical examples from partners that are working in the field of Peer Support Workers
We work together
The organizations participating in the project are:
- KBT Fagskole, Norway
- Nationell Samverkan för Psykisk Hälsa, Sweden
- Hlutverkasetur, Iceland
- NGO Mental Health Perspectives, Lithuania
- The Peer Partnership, Denmark
- The Estonian Chamber of Peer Support Counselling, Estonia
All participating organizations are at different levels of implementing training for PSW – some already have well established institutions for peer support education and some are just getting started. Despite the different status, we all strive for the same goal, to strengthen the education for PSW, which will make them more robust and increase the status for employment.
The education status for PSW is still young, and our hope is it will progress faster through Nordic Baltic co-operation where each partner brings their own unique expertise and knowledge to the table. There is a need for faster development for PSW in our respectively countries, and we believe that cooperation is the way to go for change.
The project is supported by the Nordplus Programme.
